On this page i'm going review the different media products avaible for the Ultimo Dragon. At first the only two i have expericned are two videos. These are "The Best of Ultimo Dragon" available on VHS and "The Ultimo Dragon comeback tour" which is also only available on VHS. Both are available from www.highspots.com or www.ebay.com
The best of Ultimo Dragon VHS.
This tape is a must have for Ultimo Dragon fans and purist wrestling fans alike. It features everything that makes Ultimo such a great wrestler. Great technical ability, timing, highflying moves and some great innovations. The tape features some of his classic match ups against Jushin "Thunder" Liger, The Great Sasuke, El Samurai and Shinjiro Otan amongst others. It showcases some of his title victories and even a cameo appearance by Rey Mysterio JR. The tape lasts for about 2 hours and 35 minutes. Also look out for Ultimo doing some "fake" 619's and an Asai moonsault where he ends up landing in a seat in the crowd. Great stuff and a most have. 5 out of 5 stars for this little gem.
Toryumon #43: The Ultimo Dragon comeback special.
This is another great video showcasing Ultimo unmasked, when he wrestled under the name Asai, up until 2003 where he wrestled in a 6 man tag match with Norman Smiley, Perry Saturn against Masaaki Mochizuki, Kenichiro Arai, & Toru Owashi. It shows cases him through various stages of his career. This tape yet again features some amazing pure wrestling and some of Ultimo's promos, but they are in Japanese. The only glitch on this tape is that is has commercials during it. But they are sort. Also at the beginning of the tape there is a small video package showcasing some great Ultimo moment. Another must have, the only thing stopping this from getting 5 out of 5 is the commercials. So 'll give this 4 out of 5 starts.
Ultimo Dragon, Ruthless Aggression figure
The new figure released by jakks stands around 6 inches tall, and comes with a manhole covering.
The figure is actually quite good. The detailing on the mask is excellent, it even includes the frills at the bottom of the mask. It also has the dragon wristbands. Which is a great plus. The pattern on the pants is also very detailed. It is almost a perfect Dragon figure, but it is lacking certain things. The biggest compliant I have about this figure is that it is missing the lucha libre pads. This is a serious let down, which is something that could of easily fixed. Another item missing is his left elbow pad. Now I know I’m been very picky here. But the little details are what make figures great. The final drawback isn’t a missing detail, but rather the man hole cover. Now this was a nice idea, but seems a bit silly.
Overall this is a great figure and a must have for Ultimo fans and wwe figure collectors. I give this figure 4 out of 5.
Ultimo Dragon Black Toryumon Figure.
This is a fabulous figure. This is a rare Japanese figure of the Dragon. It comes complete with the UWA world title belt that he won in Mexico. The detailing on this figure is also brilliant. It has everything from the lucha pads, dragon styled gauntlets, all the mask detailing and even a sash on his pants. The UWA belt is also extremely detailed, right down the various flags on the belt. The packaging is also brilliant. The card features a photo of Ultimo with some of his various titles and an Aztec design. On the back of the card is another fine shot of Ultimo and even includes a bio, in Japanese of course. But this just adds to how brilliant the figure is.
I’ll have to give this gem a 5 out 5.
